Compare among Oral Approach, Natural Approach, and Direct Methode

1. Oral Approach
Oral approach led to the development in standard reference in developing teaching materials. This vocabulary selection was a focus on the grammaticalcontent that becomes the problem of foreign learners in spoken languages.
The Characteristics of oral approach:
1. Language teaching begins with the spoken language. Materila is taught orally before is presented in written form.
2. The target language is the language of the classroom.
3. New language points are introduced and praticed sitiuationally.
4. Vocabulary selections procedures arre followed tensure that an essential general service vocabulary is covered.
5. Items of grammer are graded following the principle that sample forms should be taugh before complex ones.
6. Reading and writing are introduced once a suffficient lexical and grammatical basis is established.

The weaness from aral approach
• Some Indonosian students do not understand the grammatical rules explained in the target language.
• Some Indonesisan student too title in vocabulary.
The adventage form oral approach:
• Student are trained to be able to speak English
• By trial and error languange became an authomatic habit.

2. Natural Approach
Natural approach emphasize on input rather that practice. The step of learning language is listening, speaking, and written form. The goal of learning foreign language is language acquisition as a way of learning the language in unconcious process.
The Characteristicts of natural approach:
1. Grammatical was not taugh
2. Grammatical rules and structures learned through introduction by exposure to sentences in situational context.
3. Stressed the value of presenting a second language.
4. Learnind was through spontaneous conversation and demonstration.
5. The teacher use language to the student’s level of understanding .
6. Oriented towards the acquisition of oral skill.
7. Reading and writing are introduced after the learners have enough mastery of vocabulary and grammar.
The advatage of natural approach
The advantage of the natural approach was what by exposure to natural language in natural context, learners could acquire a speech capability both in production and understanding.
The disadvantages of natural approach:
• Natural approach requires the teacher to creat interesting situations so that student may be naturally exposed the language.
• Class size, since the number of students must be quite small, usually less than 15 students.

3. Direct Methode
Direct method is best suited to teaching facts and standard procedures, and provide six teaching approaches for doing so: daily review and checking, presenting and structuring practice, and regular reviews.
The main purpose of direct method is to provide information within a structure that enables all students to attain the stated objectives at a level of mastery.
The characteristics of direct method:
1. Applied based on linguistic and Psychology scientific.
2. Teaching process from specific to general.
3. The use of technique of teaching graded on the basic.
4. Deveted of communication.
5. Grammatical structure can be taught by translating the diffrent spot.
6. Teaching only everyday vocabulary and sentence.
The advantage of direct method:
• Student are capable in speaking.
• It’s easier for students to know and understand the form, use and function of secod language.
• The class is more active because there are interaction between teacher and students.
• Atudents are able to use the second language in their daily life.teacher offers information to the students based on the situation.
The disadvantages of direct method:
• Lack of reading and writing.
• Student are unable to use specific vocabulary and sentences.
• Lack of grammar study.
• Wasting a lot of time.
• Direct teaching is probably best for teaching skills, not understanding, and so, the teacher must practice these skills himself as perfectly as possible.
